Cyn Tremeau is preparing to release EPIC DEPARTURE in November 2026, a new album shaped by personal change, geographic distance, and the determination to follow an individual creative path. The record follows “HIPPIE MOTHER,” released in December 2024, and marks another stage in a catalog that has steadily moved from collaboration toward complete artistic independence.
The first single from EPIC DEPARTURE, “Getting Old,” is scheduled for release on September 3, 2026. Cyn wrote the song after realizing that she no longer wanted to remain in, or continue extending herself to, a country that did not value her. The track introduces the wider sense of disillusionment, departure, and self-determination behind the album. All 14 tracks on EPIC DEPARTURE were produced by Jacob “Jake” Bonham and feature session performances from an international roster of musicians associated with Musiversal, which was founded in Lisbon, Portugal.
Born in Rochester, New York, Tremeau spent 12 years in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia area before immigrating to Portugal in 2025. Now based in Lisbon, she draws on that transition for an album concerned with departure in both its physical and emotional forms. Her relocation took place during a period of growing political and social tension in the United States, giving the project a broader context while keeping its focus personal.
Tremeau began recording with guitarist Mike Ault, releasing the single “CAN’T LIE” and the 2017 album ALL SHE WROTE. That record examined heartbreak and the lasting effects of destructive relationships. The pair followed it with FREE-SPIRITED WOMAN in 2018, an EP centered on independence and self-reclamation.
After ending the collaboration in 2019, Tremeau learned guitar and developed her approach as a solo songwriter. Thirteen singles released across 2022 and 2023 documented that progression, allowing her to experiment with different arrangements and production choices.
Her work generally leans toward melodic rock and art pop, although its foundations remain flexible. Alternative folk, R&B, disco, electronic music, and classical elements may enter when the material calls for them. Influences including Kate Bush, Fiona Apple, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, and PJ Harvey can be traced in her interest in expressive songwriting without reducing the music to a single reference point.
“Hippie Mother,” Cyn Tremeau’s 2024 release, stands among her most poignant and accomplished songs to date. The track draws from a wide variety of influences, creating a rich and diverse sound. Its introduction unfolds through a swelling electronic ambient soundscape, establishing momentum and anticipation from the opening moments. An upbeat electronic drum pattern soon enters alongside the vocals, bringing energy to the mix while highlighting Tremeau’s distinctive approach to melody.
